Our very own Co-Founder and Bees Manager, James Bamgbose, was not only nominated but then sensationally shortlisted from hundreds of entries for a prestigious Stockport Rocks Award!
James was recognised in the highly competitive Health & Wellbeing Award category for his outstanding dedication and tireless work in supporting our local community through his work at Shaw Heath Bees Football Club and beyond..
This nomination is a powerful testament to his selfless contributions and the real impact he makes every single day. While he didn't clinch the overall win, making it to the 𝘍𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘍𝘰𝘶𝘳 from hundreds is a monumental achievement, and in our eyes, James is always a winner! Congratulations Bambi!
The Stockport Rocks Volunteer Awards, held by Sector 3 - Stockport, Stockport Volunteer Hub are all about celebrating the amazing individuals who freely give their time to make a profound difference, and James truly embodies this spirit. We were honoured to connect with so many inspiring people and fellow volunteers who all deserve immense recognition for their vital work.

Shaw Heath Bees FC are proud to announce we have been awarded the Vernon Building Society Community Star Award, recognising the club’s outstanding commitment to making a positive impact across the Stockport community.
The award, which includes a £550 grant, honours local organisations that are actively working to improve lives through grassroots efforts. Shaw Heath Bees FC has been a growing presence in the community since established 3 years ago, delivering inclusive football programmes, supporting young people and families, and building a welcoming, supportive environment through sport.
“It’s an incredible honour to receive this award,” said James Bamgbose, Manager of Shaw Heath Bees FC. “This recognition isn’t just for the club though, it’s for the entire community. We’re passionate about using football as a tool to create real change, and this support from Vernon Building Society helps us keep making that happen. We’re grateful and excited for what’s next.”
The Vernon Building Society Community Star initiative celebrates and supports groups that are dedicated to strengthening local communities. Shaw Heath Bees FC’s commitment to inclusion, development, and social impact made it a standout recipient.

Adding to the celebration, our very own Adam Knight has been named the winner of the Cheshire FA Think Positive Player Award. This accolade is a testament to Adam’s outstanding contribution and the positive example he sets for the game.

The Kick It Out Chartered Clubs scheme is part of the anti-discrimination organisation's efforts to spread its message in the amateur game and encourage as many grassroots clubs as possible to support the fight for equality in football.
And as a club we are proud to support this fight by signing up to the Kick It Out Equality Charter.
