Mental Health Matters at Shaw Heath Bees FC and we are incredibly proud to announce that Lewis Wilkinson has been appointed as Shaw Heath Bees FC’s Club Mental Health Officer.

At Shaw Heath Bees, we believe football is more than just a game... it’s a community, a family, and a place where everyone should feel supported on and off the pitch. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and we’re committed to breaking down the stigma that still surrounds it.

As Club Mental Health Officer, Lewis will:

🗣️ Be a confidential, friendly point of contact for anyone struggling.

💬 Encourage open conversations about mental health, because it’s always okay to talk.

📚 Provide information and signpost to professional help when needed.

🤝 Help coaches and volunteers foster a culture of care, empathy, and understanding.

This new role strengthens our club’s ongoing commitment to supporting men’s mental health, and we’re proud to continue working closely with Andy’s Man Club, ensuring our players, coaches, and families always have somewhere to turn.

Remember:

⚽ You are more than your performance on the pitch.

💛 It’s strong to speak up.

👂 We’re here to listen.

A FOOTBALL CLUB. A COMMUNITY. A FAMILY

Shaw Heath Bees take the game far beyond the pitch and into the hills

We hiked up Kinder Scout together, shared a powerful breathwork session in the open air, and took the plunge with a cold-water dip in the river below.

It wasn’t just exercise though it was connection. It was mates looking out for each other. It was switching off from the noise and remembering what really matters.

Huge thanks to Sam Murray from The Breath Connection ... your honesty, your story, and the tools you shared will stay with us long after the feeling returns to our toes. From your journey through PTSD and addiction to finding purpose, you’ve shown us that there’s strength in vulnerability and power in breathing together.

Every SHB player there left a little lighter, a little stronger, and a little more reminded that none of us walk alone. We are family.

We’ve captured the climbs, the laughs, the freezing dips, and the quiet reflections in photos and videos from the day, real moments that show what it’s all about: mateship, courage, and connection.

Whether you’re flying high or struggling quietly, days like this prove we’ve always got each other’s backs. You are not alone #BeeFamily

🙏 Thank you, Sam

🙏 Thank you, Vicky Reedy

🙏 Thank you, Bees

Here’s to more than football. Here’s to being there, really there, for your teammates, your friends and family and those you love.
